2nd March 2012 - World Book Day

World Book Day

A Book recommendation for you for World Book Day, 'In Tune with the Infinite' by Ralph Waldo Trine. It was first published in 1897 and went on to sell over 2 million copies. It is the first spiritual self help book and has stood the test of time for over a century, still being relevant to modern day.

It was read by such luminaries as Queen Victoria, Janet Gaynor and Henry Ford. It is interesting that Henry Ford, pioneer of mass produced automobiles, attributed his success directly to having read 'In Tune with the Infinite.' After reading the book, Ford ordered it on mass, and distributed copies freely to high profile industrialists. A truly powerful book!

27th February 2012 - Skin Soothing Soak

Skin Soothing Soak

An oatmeal bath can work wonders for soothing itchy skin due to eczema, chicken pox, shingles, sunburn or contact dermatitis.

To make yourself a skin calming bath, blend one cup of oats. Cut off the foot of a clean pair of tights or use a muslin bag and fill with the oat powder (this keeps it from clogging up your bath drain). Tie a knot at the end if you are using tights and tie it around the tap of your bathtub. Fill the bath with warm water so that the oatmeal is floating in the warm bath, then soak yourself for 30 minutes. You can then use the oatmeal bag to rub over your skin like a flannel.

7th February 2012 - Chubby Babies

Chubby Babies

I just met Hazel of Chubby Babies who is a breastfeeding counsellor. She has started her business because she believes in the health benefits of breast milk but has become aware that there is a general lack of support for breastfeeding mothers.

She was telling me that it is important to get as much information before birth and the right support with breastfeeding in the early days of a baby's life.

She offers postnatal breastfeeding courses and is available for breastfeeding support and advice in the comfort of mother's homes to help them get breastfeeding established or to overcome any difficulties. Her approach is unique because she does not just offer one off solutions to problems but will work closely with mothers until a problem is resolved. She is also available to give advice on weaning.

5th February 2012 - Valentines Present Idea

Valentines Present Idea

Sleeping on a silk pillow case can be great for preventing frizzy hair and wrinkles, and makes a great luxury present for your loved one or as a treat for yourself.

Silk pillows prevent static in your hair from the frequent movement as you sleep. It is also less harsh, so when your hair does move around, it’s not ending up in tangles either.

Same goes with preventing wrinkles. Since silk is smoother, it is easy on your skin when you move around at night, which prevents creases and wrinkles in the face.
