20th January 2016 - National Cheese Day 2016
It's National Cheese Day today, a day for cheese lovers. I am loving goats cheese at the moment & would recommend it together with beetroot, chicory, walnuts & raspberry viniagrette, especially good for those who are lactose intolerant.
2nd January 2016 - Why Goat's Milk?
Compared to Cows milk, Goat’s milk is ultra-nourishing & prebiotic, has fewer allergenic proteins, is anti-mucousal, lower in lactose & causes less inflammation. It is also high in calcium & fatty acids, but low in cholesterol, it improves your skin & is environmentally friendly.
Having switched from Cow’s to Goat’s milk about a year ago, I find it a lot lighter & easier to digest.
Researchers also believe it could protect against Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s & heart disease.
1st November 2015 - Cashews for the winter blues!
Try cashews if you suffer with the winter blues. Several handfuls will provide 1,000–2,000 mg of tryptophan which works as well as prescription antidepressants.
11th October 2015 - The power of buckwheat
Buckwheat is a flour worth trying, it's a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb and sorrel making it a suitable substitute for grains for people who are sensitive to wheat or other grains that contain protein glutens. Just made a dairy & gluten free buckwheat banana cake with my 10 year old & it was delicious, a great healthy alternative.
Buckwheat has many health benefits, it’s good for your cardiovascular system, gives better blood sugar control and a lowered risk of diabetes, it helps prevent gallstones, it offers cardiovascular benefits for postmenopausal women. Additional research finds it protective against postmenopausal breast cancer & childhood asthma.
8th October 2015 - Natural boost to oral health
Oil pulling is an ancient Indian practice that involves swishing oil around in the mouth for about 20 minutes, usually in the morning. Studies show that oil pulling has definite benefits for oral health & it may have many extra benefits that have yet to be proven scientifically.
